It seems that there is a lack of information on the web about Perth's new underground radio station LiquidFM - at least until they complete their own web site.

This site is designed as a basic FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) and has notes regarding several common issues.

What is LiquidFM?

LiquidFM is Perth's newest radio station operating under a "narrowcast" licence
We are restricted to broadcasting in mono
Music is fresh and new - underground - and non-commercial. The focus is on all aspects and genres of dance music. This includes house, breaks, drum & bass, hip-hop and more
We operate several smaller, distributed transmitters as opposed to one large one
The future of radio in Perth!

Where do I find it on my dial?

87.6 MHz or 88.0 MHz

Note : There are currently some issues with the transmitter located in Claremont (87.6MHz) - this should be sorted and back on air soon!

There's more transmitters on the way so stay tuned!

Where is the studio?

Its located on the First Floor, 12 Rowland Street Subiaco.

Access is via the grey metal external staircase which can bee seen from the carpark behind the Oriel Cafe.

Where are the transmitters?

The 88.0 MHz transmitter is located in South Perth

The 87.6 MHz transmitter is located in Claremont, just up the road from the Shell Service Station on Stirling Highway

How is the broadcast distributed?

The broadcast from the studio is relayed to the ANZ building in Perth where it is then redistributed to each of the transmitters

What about the Northern Suburbs / I get Mirrabooka FM on 88.0

LiquidFM has negotiated the rights to the Mirrabooka FM transmitter (also 88.0 MHz) - the deal is currently being finalized and coverage in this area (on the same frequency) can be expected soon!

East Perth Issues?

It appears that in the East Perth region there is a clash with Tourist Radio which also transmits on 88.0 MHz - there is currently no solution at this point

Yes they do, but its under development. Check it out here.

Where is the web stream of the broadcast?

This is being developed along side the web page. There is currently no broadband infrastructure in the studio as yet but is planned in the near future. If you are an ISP interested in sponsoring us by supplying connectivity (in return for advertising both on-line and on-air) please contact us!

I'm having trouble with my reception

If your home FM radio receiver is having difficulty in picking up LiquidFM you might try the following

Try the other frequency (88.0 MHz or 87.6 MHz)
If your receiver has an external antenna socket on the back try hooking up your rooftop TV antenna (if you have one) - if this works you can invest in a TV / FM splitter box or wall plate (available from Bunnings, Jaycar, Dick Smith or other similar TV / electrical outlets) to make the install more permanent (and allow you to have both your TV and FM receiver hooked up at the same time.)
